So, I have a lot on my plate right now, it seems.
I (still) have to paint that portrait of my grandparents, I have to film and edit a book trailer for a contest, I really should work on my 7-part summer assignment for art, Independence Day is coming up, and I just got invited to my friend's 16th birthday party on the night of the 3rd. To put the metaphorical cherry on top, my mom just moved the day we're leaving for California from the 9th to the 8th, which means that I have to finish the portrait sometime around the night of the 6th. (Oil paint takes quite a while to dry.)
I wish that there were more hours in the day, but I'm afraid that won't be happening any time soon.
Since summer started, I've been eating like crazy... Candy, cake, hot pockets, granola bars, burgers, ice cream; you name it. I'm not sure if it's because I'm (for some unknown reason) more hungry or just that I have more free time to eat... I don't know, but it's a good thing I haven't seemed to gain any weight.
Anyway, now that I'm really starting on this portrait, I've been thinking of possible places to work. Just about every artist can agree on a few requirements for the workplace: it has to be a low-traffic area, that's quiet (unless you like music playing while you work), with places to set down supplies (such as a table or something, and obviously, it has to be comfortable (so the floor is out). I've previously painted in the large entryway, which I didn't like because of all the people passing by and all the noise. (Plus, it was an easy-access area for my two nosey little cats.) This time, I'm going to try to talk my parents into letting me use the guest room. I can set up my French easel by the vanity (which I can put supplies on), plus it has a bench almost exactly like the ones we use in art class.
Someday, I'll have a dream studio... Lots of tables, chairs, shelves and drawers, a good-quality stereo with a remote for playing my music, an air purifier (so I won't get headaches around the paint and chemical fumes anymore). I might even hire that assistant I always talk about... Somebody to hand me things, and when I'm done, clean my brushes and other supplies. Yes, if I had this kind of studio, I think that I'd hardly ever leave.
Well, enough of my rambling. I should be getting to bed soon, I suppose... Good night.
